Assessments involve a combination of clinical interviews, behavioural observations, standardized tests, and self-report measures.

Assessment structure will vary depending on your referral question, but will typically include the following:

1) completion of a comprehensive clinical history;

2) completion of psychometric and standardised assessments;

3) a feedback and planning session;

4) preparation of report, which includes a summary of assessment findings, any diagnoses (if applicable), and recommendations;

5) reports typically take 2+ hours to prepare and will be emailed to you and your referring physician upon completion, usually about 4 to 6 weeks after your feedback and planning session.

Please note. Psychological assessment is not usually covered by a mental health treatment plan.

Dr Bennett offers specialised neuropsychological assessments to individuals aged 5 years and over.

A neuropsychological assessment is a comprehensive evaluation conducted by a board-certified neuropsychologist to assess cognitive, emotional, and behavioural functioning, as well as identify potential neurological differences or impairments. This assessment involves a comprehensive clinical interview, followed by completion of standardised tests and measures to evaluate various domains such as verbal and visual skills, processing speed, memory, attention, language, problem-solving, and executive functions. The results provide valuable insights into the individual’s cognitive strengths and weaknesses, aiding in the diagnosis, treatment planning, and rehabilitation of neurological and neuropsychological conditions.

A standard neuropsychological assessment typically takes four to six hours of face-to-face appointment time. Appointments are 60 to 90 minutes in duration and cost $290 for 60 minute appointments and $435 for 90 minute appointments.

Once face-to-face appointments are complete, a comprehensive report of the assessment process, findings and recommendations is prepared which is provided to the individual (or their parents/caregivers) and the referring doctor, if applicable. The fee for this report is $650 which is payable in full at the final appointment. A report usually takes 4 to 6 weeks to prepare.

Neuropsychological assessment is not usually covered by a mental health treatment plan.
